  27. My guess is that GEnie was feeling the 
  28. competition from America online which 
  29. has a similar billing policy (although now 
  30. not as good as GEnie) and perhaps even 
  31. Prodigy, which for all the criticism 
  32. heaped on it, got some takers due to the 
  33. flat monthly rate of about $10.00.  
  34. Whatever the reason, for me it will mean a 
  35. smaller bill, and I will be able to access 
  36. some areas I by-passed before to keep costs 
  37. down.  Those accessing at 1200 Baud will 
  38. not benefit as much, and depending on 
  39. usage might even experience a slight 
  40. increase.  I believe (but don't hold me to 
  41. it) that they also are doing away with any 
  42. startup fee, which was pretty small as I

  48. Quick Compactor 1.2.1 for Stacks
  49. If you have a lot of HyperCard Stacks, 
  50. here's a neat one that compresses other 
  51. stacks.  It will compress a single stack, a 
  52. folder, or and entire volume (disk).  It 
  53. keeps a running total of the disk space 
  54. recovered by listing each individual stack 
  55. before, after, and amount saved, and a 
  56. total.  I managed to pickup over 300K on 
  57. my 80MEG hard disk drive (don't remember how many stacks this involved).
